Standells Occupy Wall Steet with "Mr. One Percent"The Standells slam greedy corporations and the wealthiest 1% of Americans. Mr. One Percent is a demo of a song that has been in the works for several months which is to be included in the Standells’ upcoming record album. Because the lyrics deal with the very issues of economic inequality that those of Occupy Wall Street are protesting, the Standells felt that they’d rather show support for the cause now with the unfinished version.
With a history of standing up for the working class and speaking out against inequalities, the Standells are proud that protest songs such as “Dirty Water” (pollution in the Charles River), “Sometimes Good Guys Don’t Wear White” (class struggle), "All Fall Down" (Vietnam) and “Riot on Sunset Strip” (supporting protesters who spoke out against oppression) have been included in their catalog. We hope you enjoy the song and video, and please show your support for those who are occupying Wall St.
